A Royal Window

I wont tell a lie...all of us here at Martin & the Magpie are hugely excited about the Royal Wedding

The dress ( we are hoping for soft, romantic and floaty. Vintage inspired with lace! ), the flowers, the guests....

Our window is decorated in glorious fashion...the Union Jack having pride of place over a Dress made by Vintage Magpie.....a crystal chandelier....bunting.....cake toppers, and a Royal wedding Bouquet by Vintage Magpie

...oh and a giant postage stamp with a stylized Queenie!

The royal ribbon came out....a fantastic vintage find....it is one of my favorite things I have found..the colours are as fresh as the day they were printed

The shop is stocked with Red, White and Blue....we are watching the celebrations together...with bubbles and flags!!

We hope you all enjoy the extra day off even if you don't watch the Wedding!!

Temptation

Don't you think our shop looks pretty? Sparkling away in the gorgeous sun filled days we have been having....we have been lucky not to have had the April Showers that are always promised....

Martin & the Magpie has been re-stocked with lovely vintage furniture after Mothers Day...we are ready for glorious summer to start! Do you have the garden ready? are your seeds planted? allotments tended to?

We have a lovely mix of painted furniture...these fantastic tables in turquoise our my favourite right now... we have 2. They would look great as bedside tables...or in the bathroom to hold the essentials...his & hers....oh the divine luxury of it!! If you stunning people of Berkshire don't want them...Me and Martin might have to have them for our new house....we move in soon...our first house, all the rest have been flats....we cant wait to have a front door and a garden...yay!

That is the downside of surrounding yourself with fabulous items...you end up wanting them all....sigh....

This urn would look great in our little garden...or in one of the fireplaces.

Mothers Love

Tollys' Magic

Martin brought a rather unpromising bunch of twigs from the market last week.......the bunch was large...we saw the twigs before the man.
Sharp garden implements were needed to cut them into a suitable size for the largest container in the shop.
They have caused some excitement here.
The ugly ducklings have  become swans, large waxy blooms of Magnolia, pure bliss.

(Tollys' magic comes from the book Children of Green Knowle by Lucy Boston..his grandmother brings bare twigs in at winter to force them into bloom....clever lady!!)
