A different shade of green

Yesterday was the day that we got a bit more ground turned over in the garden.
We've got lots of seedlings that need some space to grow! Well .... they can't complain now!

Love the old Ford tractor!

Just need a rotavator now....

When the sun shone..

...which seems like a while ago now....late afternoon in the garden...a small child and a black dog supervise the marking out of ground for the poly-tunnel....
we are very much regretting not doing this earlier as our seeds are growing like topsy and taking over every available space but its still so cold..our little poly is bursting at the seams.......soon we will have to let the babies out and live with the consequences!!

However  this lack of space for seeds doesn't seem to deter us from buying plants for next year....a gracefully nodding forest of white dicentra waiting for the next available vehicle to taxi them to the garden....we have lots of pink bleeding hearts already reaching for the skies there.

Please pray for the rain to stop and warm air to waft this way....xx

on faded flowers, poems and dickens

The Faded Flower
Ungrateful he, who pluck'd thee from thy stalk,
Poor faded flow'ret! on his careless way;
Inhal'd awhile thy odours on his walk,
Then onward pass'd and left thee to decay.
Ah! melancholy emblem! had I seen
Thy modest beauties dew'd with Evening's gem,
I had not rudely cropp'd thy parent stem,
But left thee, blushing, 'mid the enliven'd green.
And now I bend me o'er thy wither'd bloom,
And drop the tear - as Fancy, at my side,
Deep-sighing, points the fair frail Abra's tomb -
'Like thine, sad Flower, was that poor wanderer's pride!
Oh! lost to Love and Truth, whose selfish joy
Tasted her vernal sweets, but tasted to destroy!'

after today in the shop I could only cut and paste!!!
Have a brilliant  bank holiday weekend..
we are open again Tuesday 9am.
xx
