faded beauty

One of our new favourite flowers at the moment......
Musette
a pinky peachy old fashioned rose curled petals 1950s chic in a bloom
these have been a week in a hot hairdressers and still looking pretty!!!

The snow is still here but everyone is buying flowers to cheer themselves and their homes up....
Today we have white lilac, viburnum, tulips, hyacinths, anenomes and of course musette roses...
have a lovely day..

flowers,camera, action..

Just a few pictures of flowers we used yesterday.
We have a new camera and its taking a bit of mastering.....
and since the laptop fell on the floor in the post Christmas scramble its new technology
all round...
The shop has lots of gorgeous things at the moment all to brighten these cold January days....
beautiful scented narcissus from The Scilly Isles....tulips in all shades....elegant hellebore in the darkest burgundy and of course bulbs in all shapes to pot up or let us do the work for you..we have lots of vintage containers all ready to go.
If i work out how to rotate a picture on this computer I'll post some more photos tomorrow!!

the ending ....and the beginning

...the last throws of Christmas arrangements.....teacup with candle...before the watch came off Martins wrist and the bandage went on....( see our last post for gory dets...)
Amongst all the celebrations, eating and drinking and general merriment in those strange days between Christmas and New Year......

 one families world fell apart.....

and another couples life together started.....

it is true to say a florists day is never the same and we see all of life's comings and goings.....

and as a little beacon to the coming spring winter flowering jasmine picked from the garden.

to the ends.....

........Christmas came and went in a blur of  spruce, candles, berries, ivy and all things festive.......we sold out of practically everything ................so we need to say ' THANK YOU ' to all our customers for keeping it local and supporting their independent traders.

We were aching and tired....all suffering from the coughing lurgy that's been going round....so as we finally closed the doors we dosed ourselves up on lem-sip and wine....and headed for a hot bath and spicy curry!!!

in the shop end of 2012

Drama unfolded on our return as Martin decided to slice open his arm (it must have been the thought of conditioning flowers again) and as he headed off to casualty, we slowly sold all our flowers again.......

..as I write the rain is bucketing down a quiet high street...awaiting the next onslaught of parties and presents,
we are wrapping things up, making arrangements for lunch parties and contemplating opening another box of chocolates......
To all our friends old and new, may we wish you all the very best for 2013 and we hope that all  your dreams come true.
Happy New Year!!

Martin, Emma and Kay...xxx
P.S Needless to say we failed in our 25 photos for the December photo project..teacher says..'we must try harder' ;)

You never know he might snuffle you out the odd truffle
