last week

 we made a vain attempt at the dreaded window photo...bunting features heavily!!

 ..a couple of shots of a corner of the shop...a bedside table originally  from Harrods..artichokes, peonies and roses in one of our little milk bottle holders....and the last few french inkwells....

I couldn't resist photographing the most amazing bearded iris that are growing outside my village church, with the morning sun shining through the petals they looked radiant... 

and on the common the grass has turned golden with buttercups!!

sleeping on the job...

 When the bulb season has finished it gets a bit harder to find plants that are happy in our vintage containers...the hyacinths and little daffodils are perfect as they need a minimum amount of water and don't mind their roots being restricted.....summer plants are a bit less accommodating!!!

 this week we have some gorgeous miniature orchids  as well as phalaenopsis orchids planted in copper and stone....and we found these old french canisters last week which look lovely  with these little hydrangeas in ....

we have got gorgeous bright red geraniums and of course our usual herb planters.

We have ordered lilac plants for delivery tomorrow at a really good price so if you have a spot for one come and have a look at them.

On the flower side we have ENGLISH scented pinks and Sweet Williams by the bunch....

talking of something sweet.....our newest member of the team....sleeping on the job!!

The sun shone.

can't get enough

..the amazing hydrangea in this display is Magical Amethyst...I'm not sure..its maybe too perfect....

 however I love the Schubert allium....what a star....

we just can't get enough of our new floor...yes I was kneeing on it to get this shot......
its been a funny day....one of us sliced their finger open           ( an occupational hazard!!)...one of us overslept.....there were several enthusiastic tourists on their way to Chelsea...( can that really be next week??)....
...and one customer wanted to know my views on the price of rhubarb .......and one asked just what would he have got in a £10 bouquet 20 years ago......I think I had an out of body experience at that point!!


Off for a gin now..x

Nature Table & Bathsheba's Posy

 It was a glorious morning here so while walking the grumpy Scottie through the footpaths that straddle Wiltshire and Berkshire I picked a hand-full of freshly emerging leaves and weeds for my natures table....

 

the horse chestnut candles are nearly over..well the ones i could reach were...

 beautiful scented apple blossom..a tiny sprig...

 the fresh green on some leaves is breathtaking, as well as the varied assortment of reds and bronzes....

I  made a woodland wedding posy when i got home...just for fun....
it brought to mind Tess and Bathsheba from Thomas Hardy...country girls....simple pleasures..its sitting on my mantle piece  in an old pressed glass vase with candlelight around..and looks divine.

I hope you all got out in the sunshine today.

NB. Please note we are having a lovely new floor fitted tomorrow ( Monday) so will be shut. Open on Tuesday 9am sharp!!
